A place to arrive, exhale, and stay awhile

The Story Behind Casa Ionio

Casa Ionio was born from our love of travel and a life shaped by movement between cultures, coastlines, and ways of living. Years spent living in Asia opened our eyes to craftsmanship, balance, and the beauty of intentional spaces. Along the way, places like Morocco, Cape Town, and Ibiza left a lasting imprint — destinations where nature, design, and slow living feel effortlessly intertwined.

The house reflects this journey. We were drawn to the raw elegance of Mexican, Moroccan, and African clay architecture, where organic forms, earthy textures, and handmade details tell stories of place and tradition. Stone, wood, and natural finishes ground the spaces, while subtle modern comforts ensure ease and warmth. Every corner is designed to feel relaxed yet considered — inviting you to linger, explore, and feel at home.

At its core, Casa Ionio blends the laid-back spirit of Mediterranean coastal living with the expressive, outdoor soul of tropical African design. Rattan furnishings, open-air spaces, seafront views, and desert-inspired gardens with cacti create a seamless flow between indoors and out. Eco-conscious choices and natural materials guide the design, allowing the house to live in harmony with its surroundings.

Today, we live between Puglia and London, finding balance between slow living and city life. Casa Ionio is our anchor — a place to return to, to breathe deeply, and to share a way of living that values presence, connection, and simplicity by the sea.

Local Food, Wood-Fired Inspired

Food at Casa Ionio is deeply connected to place, season, and tradition.

Our kitchen celebrates local, Mediterranean cooking, inspired by coastal Apulian flavors and the simplicity of wood-fired preparation. Meals are crafted using fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced from nearby farms, fishermen, and small producers whenever possible.

Expect dishes that are:

  • Honest and nourishing

  • Rooted in local traditions

  • Cooked slowly and shared generously

From flame-kissed vegetables and freshly grilled seafood to rustic breads and vibrant seasonal plates, each meal is designed to be enjoyed slowly — gathered around the table, accompanied by good wine, conversation, and the sound of the sea.

Food is not just part of the stay — it’s part of the experience.
